JALISCO EPIC ANNOUNCEMENT


JALISCO EPIC is an ultramarathon mountain bike race (XC). 6 days, 8 stages, over 600 kilometers, more than 13,000 meters of elevation gain. JALISCO EPIC is Mexico's endurance stage race. Across the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range in Jalisco, the race crosses forests, deserts, jungles, and beaches, as well as rivers, waterfalls, and suspension bridges.

JALISCO EPIC is the only ALL-INCLUSIVE race in the world, meaning it includes lodging, full meals, logistical support, public safety, medical services, first aid protocols, basic mechanical assistance, bike washing at the end of each stage, a jersey, and many gifts from sponsors. Awards are also given at the end of each stage (RACE category only). The route is marked on the ground and in GPX format, and there is a sweep vehicle and a Woody Bag backpack.


DATE: October 27 to November 2

RIDER ARRIVAL: Riders must arrive at the host hotel on October 27. A high-carb dinner and an energy breakfast are included, as well as workshop bike services (at an additional cost).

HOST HOTEL: Hotel Villa Primavera, UdeG Club. Bosque de la Primavera.

FINAL VENUE HOTEL: Hotel Rosita Puerto Vallarta

RACE START: Wednesday, October 28th at Hotel Villa Primavera, and finishes on November 2nd at CANOPY RIVER Puerto Vallarta.

RACE FINISH: Monday, November 2nd at CANOPY RIVER and HOTEL ROSITA.

JALISCO EPIC: has a night route as part of the Day of the Dead festivities.


STAGES:

·       Stage 1: 130 kilometers from Primavera to Isla Grande.

·       Stage 2: 85 kilometers from Isla Grande to Tapalpa.

·       Stage 3: 140 kilometers from Tapalpa to Ayutla.

·       Stage 4: 75 kilometers from Ayutla to El Rosario.

·       Stage 5: 100 kilometers from El Rosario to Mascota.

·       Stage 6: 50 kilometers from Mascota to Mascota, within the Day of the Dead festivities.

·       Stage 7: 95 kilometers from Mascota to Canopy River Puerto Vallarta.

·       Stage 8: 5 kilometers, controlled, from Canopy River to the host hotel in Puerto Vallarta.


AID STATIONS: Located every 25 to 30 kilometers along each stage, each aid station consists of a tent with: fresh water, ice, rehydration drinks, fresh fruit, and white bread with Nutella. The Jalisco Epic final awards ceremony will be held at the host hotel, featuring a beer tasting by our sponsor, CERVECERÍA MINERVA.


CATEGORIES:

• Under-25 Born between 2000 and 2009 (16 to 25 years old)

• Elite Born between 1986 and 1999 (26 to 39 years old)

• Master 40 Born between 1976 and 1985 (40 to 49 years old)

• Master 50 Born between 1966 and 1975 (50 to 59 years old)

• Master 60 Born in 1965 or earlier (60 years old or older)


 REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:

·       Front bike light; rear light (not mandatory).

·        GPS device.

·       GPX files downloaded to the system (GPX files available online.)

·       Smartphone.

·       Rear derailleur hanger (unless it's a universal SRAM derailleur hanger)
